Barn yard balls:
Ingredients
1 cup Barnyard Millet 1 cup is 200 ml measurement
2 1/2 cups Water
2 tbsp Coconut Oil 1 tbsp is 15 ml measurement
1 tsp Chana Dal
1 tsp Urad Dal
1/2 tsp Mustard Seeds or Rai
1-2 nos Green Chillies finely chopped
2 tbsp Freshly grated coconut
A pinch of hing,
Curry leaves, few, torn into pieces
Salt to taste
Instructions
Wash and Soak barnyard millet for atleast 15 to 20 mins. After 20 mins, drain the water and keep aside.
Heat a thick bottom kadhai or pan, add coconut oil, mustard seeds, urad dal, chana dal, green chillies, hing, curry leaves.
Once the water starts boiling, reduce the flame and slowly add the soaked and drained barnyard millet. Keep mixing while you add the millets.
Now add the grated coconut and keep mixing it. The millets would thicken up after a few minutes.
Once it forms a thick mass off the flame.
Meanwhile prepare a steamer for steaming the Balls.
Shape the and place them in the hot steamer. Steam them for atleast 10 minutes until soft. Serve immediately.
